Margaret M. “Maggie” Stuart, 80, of Brick, passed away on Thursday, October 8, 2009, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital , New Brunswick .

Maggie was a bookkeeper at Ocean County National Bank for 25 years retiring in 1991.  She was predeceased by her husband Alan J. Stuart in 1969. 

She is survived by her five children Victoria J. Stuart of Pt. Pleasant, Thomas C. Stuart and his wife Lisa of Ferrum, Va, William H. Stuart of Pt. Pleasant, Deborah M. DeFranco of Brick, and Alan J. Stuart of Toms River.  She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jack A. and Natalie M. DeFranco, both of Brick, her sister Doris Irving of Toms River , and her grand puppies, Sophie, Zoe, Tallulah and Sugar.

A memorial gathering will be held on Sunday 2-4 pm at Laurelton Memorial Funeral Home, 109 Pier Avenue , Brick.  A funeral service will begin at 3 pm.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Maggie’s name can be made to the Cancer Institute of NJ, 195 Little Albany Street, New Brunswick, NJ 08903.

Dominick  Aiello age 61 of Sunnyside, NY died at his home in New York on Sept. 7th

Dominick was born in NY and lived his whole life there.  He was a realtor who worked for J. Shoper Realty Co. in Manhattan. He was also a musician who wrote some of his own songs.

Dominick is survived by his former wife Rose.  His son Dominick Jr. of N.Y. City.  His daughter Jane Aiello also of NY City.  His sister Camille and her husband Albert Frederick of Brick. And several nieces and nephews.

Viewing hours will be on Sat. from 10:30am to 12:15pm at Laurelton Memorial funeral home Brick. Funeral Service will be offered at 12:15pm at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow at St. Joseph ’s Cemetery in Toms River.

Ralph F. Salisbury, 77, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at home. 

He was born and raised in Albany, NY. He entered the U.S. Navy and served on board the USS Aircraft Carrier Midway and later became a meteorologist at Lakehurst NAS. It was then he met his wife Lynne, of 53 years. He and his wife Lynne owned and operated the Ralyn Art Center in Lakewood, NJ for 40 years. He was an expert in custom framing, as well as, an accomplished artist. His advertising art can be seen all over Lakewood as their township logo, the horse and carriage. He was a member of the National Art Materials and Trade Assoc., Member of Professional Picture Framers Association, Past President of the Lakewood Rotary Club and received the Paul Harris Fellow Award from Rotary International. He was also Director in the Lakewood Redevelopment Organization, and Former Director of Visiting Homemakers of Ocean County. Ralph was devoted to his church and was Past Vestryman, Senior Warden and Youth Adviser of All Saints Episcopal Church, Lakewood.

He is survived by his wife, Lynne; daughters, Stefanie S. Robinson and her husband M. Joseph and Cathryn S. O'Donnell and her husband Richard, and seven grandchildren, Kaitlin, Ian, Elizabeth, Delaney, Spencer, Logan, and Jillian.
A memorial service will be held at All Saints' Episcopal Church, 213 Madison Ave, Lakewood, NJ on Friday July 17th at 10:00am.

Robert Anstett, a longtime Ocean County resident, died March 19 at his home.  

He was born in Jersey City, NJ in 1933.  Robert was an Army veteran serving during the early 1950’s.  He then studied for several years at the Actor’s Studio in New York City under Lee Strasberg.  From an early age he enjoyed writing, especially plays and poetry.  He has been published in several periodicals. After moving to Brick in 1967 he worked for the Bond and Taystee Bread Companies and later the Original Leisure Village.

He was an early activist in the conservation and recycling movements and wrote a weekly column for the Ocean County Observer on local Environmental issues.  A collection of these articles were the basis for a book published in the mid 1970’s.  He also served as President of the Citizens Conservation Council for many years. After retirement he continued to follow his passions of writing and acting, working with Brick Recreation Department.  He created several writing and acting groups that met and performed at the Brick Cultural Arts Center.  During this time he organized “Poetry in the Park” which included writings from students of the Brick School System.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Eleanor, Toms River, one brother, Ron, and his wife Audrey, FL, one sister, Lillian, and her husband Zack, TX, one son, Steve and his wife Susan, MD and two grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations should be sent to Deborah Hospital, Browns Mills, NJ.  A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 25th, at 1 pm at St Thomas Lutheran Church in Brick. Laurelton Memorial Funeral Home, Brick, is in charge of arrangements.

Mildred Petty, age 85, of Lakewood, died Wed. March 25 at Ocean Medical Center, Brick. 

Born in Roanoke, VA, she lived in Elizabeth prior to moving to Lakewood 18 years ago. She was employed as a Telegrapher for Western Union, Elizabeth for 30 years until her retirement in 1970.

She is survived by her husband, John Petty; 2 sons, Randy Whitt and Steve Whitt; a sister, Kit Joslyn and 2 grandchildren, Lindsay and Randy Whitt.

Lois E. Haines, age 91, of Lakewood , died Tues., Feb. 17 at Concord Health Center, Lakewood

Born in Newark , she lived in Brick prior to moving to Lakewood . She was a member of Laurelton Baptist Church , Brick.

Lois is survived by 2 sisters, Dorothea Pace and Madeline Kerr; a sister in law Josephine Haines and many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Edward H. Durr Age 85 of  Manchester , NJ died February 6, 2009 at Ocean Medical Center , Brick, NJ

He worked at Boch in Murray Hill in New Jersey for many years.  Born in Jersey City , NJ he lived in Scotch Plains , NJ prior to moving to Manchester 30 years ago. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the Navy from 2/19/1943 to 04/20/1946. He belonged to the Masonic Order and was a  member of the Loyalty Lodge #33. He enjoyed fishing

Nellie F. (Fewkes) Kaiser, age 101, of Brick, passed away on January 11, 2009 at Shorrock Gardens Care Center, Brick.  

She had worked for the Jersey City Public Library 45 years and was Supervisor of Reader Services at the time of her retirement in 1973. She had obtained her Degree in Library Science from Rutgers University. Mrs. Kaiser was born in Bayonne and lived in Jersey City prior to moving to Brick 35 years ago.  She was a member of St. Mary’s by the Sea Altar Guild and also a communicant of St. Mary’s By the Sea Episcopal Church, Point Pleasant Beach.

She was predeceased by her husband Milton Kaiser who passed away in 1976 and a son Donald who passed away in 1977.  Surviving are her nieces Helen Lynch, Warwick, PA, Dorothy Weber, Santa Fe, NM, Elizabeth Fewkes, Bradley Beach, NJ and nephews Milton Jones, Coral Gables, FL and Jerry Durand, Los Gatos,CA.

A memorial service will be held at St. Mary’s by the Sea Episcopal Church, 804 Bay Ave., Pt. Pleasant Beach, NJ at 11 am on January 17th.  There will be no calling hours.  Interment will be private.  Laurelton Memorial Funeral Home,20Brick, is in charge of arrangements.

Josephine Braica, age 90, of Lakewood , died Sun., Dec. 28 at Kimball Medical Center , Lakewood .

She is survived by many loving family members.

JOHN VITEK AGE: 87 BRICK died Wednesday, Dec. 10, at his residence. 

He was a jewelry designer at Regency Jeweler's, Manhattan, N.Y. for 30 years, retiring in 1986. Born in Vrbvoce, Czechoslovakia, he lived in New Milford before moving to Brick eight years ago. He was a World War II Army veteran. He was a member of the V.F.W. of Brick, and a member of St. Thomas Lutheran Church, Brick.

John was predeceased by his wife, Ann Skodacek Vitek, who died in March 2008; and a daughter, Joyce Beisswanger. Surviving are a son, John and his wife Tamie Vitek of Anderson, S.C.; three sisters, Suzka, Christina, and Betka; and three grandchildren, Bill, Greg and Debbie Beisswanger.

Anna M. Fratini, age 96, of Brick, died Sunday, Oct. 18 at Laurelton Village Care Center .

Born in Bronx , NY , she lived in Barnegat prior to moving to Brick in 1980. She was employed as a Factory worker for Westinghouse, Edison for many years until her retirement.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Harold Greene, 1960.
Anna is survived by her husband of 42 years, Ralph Fratini; a daughter, Barbara Pekarovich of Keansburg; a son and daughter in law, Bernard and Jane Greene of LA; a step daughter Eliza Bittman of Richmond , VA ; 10 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.

Dr. Harry J. "Doc" Lamparelli, 98, of Lakewood Township died October 8th at the Hospice Unit at Ocean Medical Center, Brick.  

He was born in the Union Hill section of Union City and lived in Leonia, Bergen County for many years before moving to Greenbriar I in Brick and has spent the last eight years at Leisure Park of Lakewood.

For the past 30 years, Dr. Lamparelli has been affiliated with the Brick Town Medical Group in Dorado Plaza , Brick Township . Dr. Lamparelli attended the college of William and Mary and received his degree in Podiatric Medicine from the Illinois College of Podiatric Medicine in 1932.

Dr. Lamparelli served as State President of the New Jersey Podiatric Medical Society 1959-1960.  He also served as the first president of the Hudson County Division  of the State Podiatric Society in 1952.  In 1965 he was voted outstanding podiatrist and received a meritorious award from the State Society of Podiatric Medicine .  He was a past president of the Leonia Lions Club where he was a 25 year member.  He was a life member  of the John Erickson Engineering Society.  He was a member of the Leonia Ambulance Corps. He was a member of  the Brick Elks Lodge #2151.  He was a communicant of St. Martha’s RC Church, Point Pleasant and now a communicant of  Holy Family RC Church, Lakewood . He was a past member of the Point Pleasant Hospital volunteer staff for 8 years.  Dr. lamparelli is a life member of the America Medical Podiatry Association for 65 years.  Dr. Lamparelli is a member of the Old Grand –Dad Club.  Every U.S. President who was a Grand Dad has been a member of the club beginning with F.D. Roosevelt in 1934.  Due to Dr. Lamparelli’s efforts he was able to obtain a signing ceremony  proclamation proclaiming Youth Fitness Week from Governor Robert B. Myner on April 20, 1961.  Dr. Lamparelli was awarded a certificate for the course in Brazil he fulfilled in Leporologic.   Dr. Lamparelli was an avid world traveler, visiting virtually every country in his 30 years of travel.  On November 27,1962 he received from Pope John 23 a blessing and a plenary Indulgence to be gained at his hour of death.

He was predeceased by his lovely wife, Dorothea in 2000.  He is survived by his devoted daughter , Dolores J. Griffith and her husband Thomas E. Griffith of Toms River , he will also be greatly missed by his four grandchildren Lisa C. Bonawitz and her husband David.  Of Bethelem , PA.   Henry E. Rose III and his wife Kathy of Jacksonville ,Fla. Darren J. Rose of West Long Branch, NJ  and Brandon A. Rose and his wife Bonnie of Hamilton,NJ.  Also four great grandchildren, Darren and Nicholas Rose and Sarah and Eric Bonawitz.  He was the beloved uncle to John Gualtieri and his family of Alexandria , VA.

Richard McHale, age 65, of Lakewood, died Sun. Sept 28 at Kimball Medical Center, Lakewood

Born in Staten Island , NY , he lived there prior to moving to Lakewood many years ago. He was a US Marshall for the City of New York for many years until his retirement. He served with the US Naval Reserve during Vietnam from 1962-1966.

Richard is survived by a sister-in-law, Dorothy McHaleof Staton Island,NY and a niece, Kathleen Vieira both of Colonia, NJ.

Doris Bruckler Williamson, 79, of Brick, passed away on March 10, 2008 upon losing her courageous battle against pancreatic cancer. 

She is survived by her husband Richard F. Williamson of Brick, her son David F. Williamson, daughter-in-law Marilyn Kralik and grandson Evan B. F. Williamson of Island Heights , her daughter Grace W. Haviland, son-in-law Mark Haviland and granddaughters Claire and Ava Haviland of Brick, and her sister Janet DeVecchio and nieces Janet Case and Donna Parks of Middletown, DE.

Throughout her life, Doris was a highly respected music teacher who shared the beauty of music with thousands of students. She was nominated and received the New Jersey Governor’s Recognition Teacher of the Year Award. Her lifelong love of choral music led her to sing in such choirs as Trenton State Teachers College , Robert Shaw, Westminster Choir, the Monmouth Civic Chorus and the Garden State Chorus.

Visitation will be Wednesday 2 - 4 p.m., and 7-9 p.m., at the Laurelton Funeral Home 109 Pier Ave. and Route 70 in Brick.  The church funeral will be Thursday, 2 p.m., at St. Thomas Lutheran Church, 135 Salmon Street, Brick, with interment in the church’s Memorial Garden.

Robert D. Evans Age 65 of Keansburg , NJ died October 22, 2007 at home.

He was a Machine Adjuster for National Envelope Co. in Union , NJ for 40 years until he retired in 2004. Born in Jersey City , NJ he lived in Elizabeth , NJ before moving to Keansburg , NJ 6 years ago. He served in the US Army during peacetime with the rank of SP4. He was an avid bowler and sports fan.

Helen V Murphy Age 86 of Brick, NJ died July 14, 2007 at Burnt Tavern Nursing Home

She was a Medical Secretary in Park Ridge , NJ for many years. Born in New York , NY she lived in Park Ridge , NJ until moving to Brick, NJ 43 years ago. She was a Member of PWP, Ocean County Chapter and a parishioner of St Martha’s Church, Pt Pleasant, NJ.  She loved her children, the water, and flying

Nini Jónsdóttir Anderson, age 94, of Lakewood, passed on Thursday, June 21, 2007, at Leisure Park, Lakewood.  

She was a homemaker.  Born in Malmo, Sweden, she lived in Manhattan, NY, Bloomfield, and upon her husband's retirement in 1979 they moved to Brick where they had spent their summers and weekends for 25 years. She later moved to Leisure Park in Lakewood.

Mrs. Anderson was a member of All Saints Church, Lakewood.

She was predeceased by her husband, Norman.  She is survived by a sister Bryndis Jónsdóttir of Iceland and 2 nieces and one nephew.

Robert J. McKeon Age 78 of  Lakewood, NJ died on April 27, 2007 at Community Medical Center

Mr. McKeon was a Self employed heating contractor in Lakewood, NJ. He was a Korean war veteran. Born in Union, NJ he was lifetime resident of Lakewood, NJ. He was a Member of: A Country Place, retirement community. American Legion, Lakewood, NJ. and St. Dominc RC Church, Brick. He will be missed by his many friends and family.

Elsie L Edlund (nee Raab) Age 84 of Brick, NJ died April 14, 2007 at: Meridian Home Care & Hospice, Brick, NJ

Born in Jersey City , NJ, she lived their until moving to Brick, NJ in 1956. She worked for a leather factory in West New York for many years, and also for Seagram-Calvert in Louisville , KY and for Curtiss Wright in 1945 for the war effort.  She enjoyed baking, knitting, fishing, and the beach.  She won over 200 county & state baking ribbons.  She will always be remembered as a caring, kind, selfless, and devoted wife and grandmother.

Survived by her Husband Frederick Edlund to whom she was married for 66 years and her loving family. Predeceased by parents, a brother the late Edward Raab, and her life long friend Kitty St. George

Allen C Witherow Age 67 of Brick, NJ died April 13, 2007at: Ocean Medical Center , NJ

He was a Project Manager and Owned & Operated Project Management Services & Shore Structures of Lakewood , NJ for 18 years. Born in Chicago , IL he lived in Libya before moving to Brick, NJ 18 years ago. He was a veteran of the US Army Corp of Engineers, a member of the American Legion.  He served as Captain of the VFW Post 8867 Color Guard for several years. He built the world’s largest Cold Storage Unit in the Desert of Libya and also worked on the rebuilding of the airport in Riyadh , Saudi Arabia

Reginald A. Van Tassel Age 85 of Brick, NJ died April 11, 2007 at Rose Garden Care Center , Toms River

Born in Lee , MA .he lived in Bayonne , NJ before moving to Brick, NJ 24 years ago.
He was a Mechanical Engineer for C.E. Lummus in Bloomfield , NJ for 25 years. He retired in 1981. He was a WWII Navy veteran, a member of the VFW, Brick. He was an Eagle Scout. Was an avid golfer. Was awarded a citation from the American Red Cross for donating his rare blood type. He traveled world wide for his job with his family. His work had him reside in Holland , Germany , Japan and Mexico . He was a member of St. Thomas Lutheran Church , Brick

NORMA HAWREY DONOVAN, 82, of BRICK, died Tuesday, Feb. 20, at home. 

She was a cashier at the Two Guys department store, Brick, for many years. Born in Jersey City , she lived there before moving to Brick in 1958.

Her husband, Harry Donovan, died in 1985. Surviving are a son, John Donovan of Brick; two daughters, Janet Donovan of Lakewood , and Judy Loland of Brick; three grandchildren, Kelly, Rhonda and Holly; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Laurelton Memorial Funeral Home, 109 Pier Ave. , Brick. A graveside committal service will take place at 1 p.m. Friday at Ocean County Memorial Park , Toms River .

Howard L. Fenton of Lakewood died February 4 at Ocean Medical Center ,Brick.  He was born in 1923 in Avon by the Sea. He was the son of the late Joseph & Mary Fenton who were greatly appreciated and always missed.  He had lived in Chatham and Ft. Lauderdale , Fla. Before moving to Lakewood in 1990. 

He attended Avon Grade School , Asbury Park High School . He was a graduate of the Cooper Union School of Art, in New York .  He received a B.S. and M.A. degree in Art education At New York University.  His gratitude was often expressed for some wonderful teachers during these years for their long term influence. 

A veteran of WW II, he was a staff sergeant gunner in the 8th Air Corp. he was proud of his “memorable, meaningful, maturing experience”

Mr. Fenton taught art at the Union High School , Union , NJ for 24 years. Finding this a very satisfying profession with some great associates and students.

His avocation was acting, set designing, directing, in community theaters from 1952-1991 in Maplewood , Chatham , Summit , NJ and Pompano Beach , Fla.   This ongoing creative outlet gave much fulfillment.

He made significant contributions of historical furniture and artifacts to the Bailey-Reed House Museum of the Squan Village Historical Society in support of its mission.  He was a benefactor to Historic Allaire Village , using his talents, background, and training here in this unique place.  He donated from his home numerous antique items of furniture he had collected for forty some years.  He became the Historic Decorating Chairman for the building then being restored.    It was an involved ongoing process with some historical research, much planning labor and dedication.

All this was done as a tribute to his Fenton and Shafto families who had long and deep roots in Monmouth County.

Mr. Fenton is survived by a nephew Larry Fenton of Pinehurst , NC .

Visitation will be Thursday from 9-10:00 am at the Laurelton Memorial Funeral Home, 109 Pier Ave & Rt. 70, Brick.  Funeral Service will be held 10:00 AM at the funeral home.  Burial will follow at Glendola Cemetery , Wall Twp.
